Foundations in, over site cleared
Dig, muck away, foundations poured, oversite cleared and levelled. Everything above ground is only as good as this.
“Foundations in and over site cleared. Ready to get on the footings.” On site — Stoke Golding
West Construction · Hinckley, Leicestershire
Commercial and residential construction across Leicestershire and Warwickshire. Groundworks, brickwork, extensions and new builds — and we come back to lay the patio and the driveway once the scaffold is down.
01 — How a job runs
A lift is one stage of wall — as high as a bricklayer can reach before the scaffold goes up a level. It’s how we measure a build, and it’s how you’ll see yours come along.

Blockwork up to damp course, ready for block and beam. The part nobody ever sees and everything else sits on.
“Substructure completed ready for block and beam with a nice bit of under build.” On site — Shepshed
First lift of brick and block off the slab. This is where the shape of the building appears for the first time.
“The first lift is up, and the structure is taking shape.” On site — detached house
Beams craned or carried in and padstoned, openings formed square and level, brickwork carried on over the top.
“Steels parcelled ready to get on some brickwork.” On site — Hinckley
Scaffold rises, walls follow. Blockwork jointed front and back, perps kept plumb, gauge held to the storey rod.
“3rd lift complete on this pair of semi’s — blockwork jointed front and back.” On site — pair of semis
Gables cut and racked, then the detail — dentil courses, corbels, oversailers. It costs a day and it’s what people notice for fifty years.
“Just wrapped up these gables, topped off with a dentil course detail to add the perfect finishing touch.” On site — Barlestone
Wall plate, joists and roof, then the building is watertight and the weather stops being your problem.
“And she’s up ready for the roof.” On site — Hinckley
Shell built, knock-through done, openings formed, site left clean for the plasterer, the spark and the plumber.
“Shell built, knock-through done, and ready for the inside trades to work their magic.” Extension — Hinckley
02 — After the scaffold comes down
“Site visit yesterday to some new builds we completed in the summer. Looking smart. Coming back soon to do the driveway and landscaping.”

03 — Brickwork
Anyone can run a straight wall. The difference is in the courses that take an extra day — and in matching a bond and a mortar that were laid a hundred years before we turned up.
04 — Where we work
Based in Hinckley, right on the county line. Everything below is somewhere we’ve actually worked — and if you’re a little further out, ask anyway.
05 — Commercial & residential
Most weeks we’re on a house. Some weeks we’re on a unit or a site for another contractor. The standard doesn’t change with the postcode.
Brick panel rebuilds, structural repairs and new brickwork on commercial units — including a brick panels rebuild for an industrial facility in Enderby.
Full new-build plots and gangs for other builders and developers, from substructure to gable. We’ve laid walls on contract as far out as Manchester.
Extensions to period buildings, boundary wall rebuilds in reclaimed brick, and repointing mixed to match — white cement, lime and silver sand.
